The copyright in India is governed by the rules and regulations of Indian Copyright Act, 1957. The main object of Copyright Act is to check the piracy and violation of copyright works. The Act defines the term Copyright to mean exclusive right to do or authorise others to do certain acts in relation to- literary, dramatic or musical works, artistic work, cinematographic film and sound recording. The Act has laid down different test and possibilities to check whether there is a violation or infringement of different work covered within the concept of copyright. As per Act in order to gain copyright the factor of originality is extremely important, mere skill and labour by themselves does not make up for want of originality
